Samsung is rolling out powerful new security features for Galaxy devices, and users are urged to activate them before it’s too late.
As phone theft continues to rise globally, these tools-part of the new One UI 7-aim to shield your personal data from thieves and opportunists.
Initially introduced with the Galaxy S25 lineup, these updates are now available on a range of older devices including the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy S22 models. More compatible phones are expected to be added soon.
The highlight of the update is Theft Detection Lock, which uses motion sensors to detect if a phone is snatched from your hand-immediately locking the screen. There’s also Offline Device Lock, which triggers a lock if your phone remains offline too long, preventing access even if the thief tries to disable connectivity.
Remote Lock has also been improved
. Now you can secure your lost device by verifying your number and using Samsung’s account tools to protect your data or wipe the device remotely.
New anti-theft layers have also been introduced for in-person robbery scenarios. Identity Check forces biometric authentication even if someone knows your PIN and tries to make changes in an unfamiliar location. Security Delay adds a one-hour waiting period before biometric data like fingerprints can be changed-giving owners critical time to react.
Samsung recommends using the Samsung Find platform to remotely lock, locate, or erase your phone. You can even display a message or contact number on the lock screen-though it’s smart to avoid personal details. Galaxy Watches and earbuds can also help you locate a misplaced device.
While these features can’t stop theft entirely, they offer critical safeguards to help you stay in control of your digital life, even in worst-case scenarios. Samsung’s latest move proves the company is taking mobile security more seriously than ever.
