Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360: Everything You Need to Know

Introduction

Samsung is set to release its next-generation laptop, the Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360. Although the Galaxy Book 4 series was launched just nine months ago, the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 is anticipated to bring several upgrades in design and performance.

Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 retains a design similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360. It sports a 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x touchscreen with WQXGA+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The laptop features a 360-degree hinge, allowing it to convert into a tablet—a feature enhanced with the bundled S Pen stylus. The dimensions remain the same at 13.99 x 9.93 x 0.5 inches, and it weighs 1.69 kg, making it a portable a laptop.

Processor and Performance

One of the most significant upgrades is the new Intel Core Ultra 5 226V processor from the Lunar Lake lineup. This processor features an 8-core/8-thread design and includes Intel Xe2-based Arc 130V graphics, as well as a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI workloads. The laptop will come with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD.

Wireless Connectivity and Ports

The Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 will bring upgraded wireless connectivity, featuring Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 7, in contrast to its predecessor’s Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E. The laptop includes an HDMI 2.1 port and two Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left side. On the right, there is a USB 3.2 Type-A port, a microSD card slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A 76Wh battery, supporting 65W USB PD charging via Thunderbolt 4 port (USB Type-C connector), powers the device.

User Experience

The laptop offers an enriched user experience with a full-sized backlit keyboard, including a numpad and a large trackpad with Windows Precision drivers. Additionally, it has a dedicated key for Copilot Plus, emphasizing its AI capabilities. The non-360 version might opt for a centered trackpad and lack the numpad. It also includes a fingerprint reader, a webcam, bottom-firing stereo speakers, and sensors like an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and gyroscope.

Expected Models and Launch Date

The Galaxy Book 5 series is expected to have at least five models:

  • Galaxy Book 5
  • Galaxy Book 5 360
  • Galaxy Book 5 Pro
  • Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360
  • Galaxy Book 5 Ultra

The series is likely to be unveiled in November or December, with sales commencing in the first quarter of the next year.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 promises to offer a familiar yet enhanced experience with upgrades primarily in processing power and wireless connectivity. It maintains its predecessor’s lightweight and portable design, making it a strong contender against new offerings such as the latest MacBook Air.
