It’s no secret that Samsung is preparing to unveil three new smartwatches next month. The Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) are set to be released, and while they might appear similar at first glance, they each offer their own unique features. All three models are expected to maintain the “squircle” design first introduced with the rugged Galaxy Watch last year, which has become somewhat of a love-it-or-hate-it feature among users.
Rumors circulating around social media have given us some insight into what to expect at the upcoming Unpacked event in July.
Thanks to a reliable source, we now know more about these highly anticipated devices, though there are still plenty of questions left to be answered.
Two underwhelming color options for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic
According to leaks, the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic will be available in both Wi-Fi-only and 4G LTE variants, a predictable detail that most of us saw coming. The case sizes for these two models are expected to be 40mm and 44mm, similar to the Galaxy Watch 7, which also had these two sizes. The Galaxy Watch 6 followed suit with these same size options last year, so it’s no surprise to see the same choices here.
However, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is expected to be released only in a single XL 46mm size, unlike the previous generation’s 43 and 47mm options. This move is likely due to the watch’s signature rotating bezel, which Samsung seems to be focusing on for the upcoming model.
As for color choices, the Galaxy Watch 8 will come in the rather mundane colors of graphite and silver, while the Watch 8 Classic will be offered in basic black and white shades. These are familiar color options that won’t really excite those looking for something more adventurous. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic came in similar hues, and while the Galaxy Watch 7 offered some fresher alternatives like green and cream, it’s clear that Samsung is playing it safe this year.
What’s new with the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025)?
Moving on to the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025), don’t expect it to blow your mind with its color options. It will reportedly be available in three hues: Titanium Blue, Titanium Gray, and Titanium Silver. These are pretty close to the colors offered for the first-gen Galaxy Watch Ultra, which came in Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray. Apple’s upcoming Watch Ultra 2 has also been leaked in a similar blue shade, so it’s clear that blue is the color of the year.
It’s still uncertain whether the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) will feature the same black and orange bands as the 2024 model. While adding an orange strap would add a bit of flair to the rugged design, it’s rumored that the Titanium White color with a matching white band will be discontinued this year.
While the color choices may not turn heads, the build quality of the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) is expected to impress, as it did with its predecessor. Unfortunately, details on performance improvements are still scarce, but one noteworthy spec leak indicates that the new model will come with 64GB of internal storage, doubling the 32GB offered in the original model. This could make a significant difference for those looking to store more music, apps, or other content on their smartwatch.
