Is Samsung Planning a Budget-Friendly Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE?

Samsung’s upcoming July Unpacked event is creating buzz as rumors swirl around new foldable devices. Alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, a potential surprise could be the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, a more affordable version of the popular foldable.

This surprise came to light thanks to a case listing leak, revealing a “Z Flip 7 FE” alongside the Z Flip 7 and confirming its likely debut during the event.

The leak came from Spigen, a well-known accessory maker, who briefly listed cases for both the Z Flip 7 and this mysterious “Z Flip 7 FE.” Though the listings were taken down quickly, the confirmation of the “7” branding is crucial. This is a clear indication that Samsung plans for the FE version to belong to the current generation, unlike the Galaxy Z Fold FE from the previous year, which was launched without a number, leading to some confusion.

The Z Flip 7 FE is expected to share a similar design with the Z Flip 6, boasting a 6.7-inch main screen and a 3.4-inch cover display. However, some key differences will be found under the hood. Early reports suggest the Z Flip 7 FE will be powered by an Exynos 2400e chip rather than a Snapdragon flagship processor, and come with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The display will feature FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, maintaining a solid visual experience.

As for the price, it’s expected to be significantly more affordable than the Z Flip 6, with local reports in South Korea predicting a price around ₩1 million – roughly 30% cheaper than its predecessor. This makes the Z Flip 7 FE a serious contender for those looking for a foldable device without breaking the bank.

With this leak, the chances are high that the Z Flip 7 FE will make its debut alongside the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 at Unpacked. This would mark a shift in Samsung’s strategy by introducing a budget-friendly foldable at the same time as their flagship models. As competition in the foldable market intensifies, especially with new players like the Nothing Phone (3), this move could allow Samsung to maintain its lead in the market without asking users to pay a premium for a foldable experience.
