Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, Fold 7, and G Fold: Availability Leaks and Expectations

Samsung is about to reveal its new foldable smartphones next month, including the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and possibly a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.

These devices will hit the market shortly after their unveiling, although the tri-fold model, likely to be named the Galaxy G Fold, will take a bit longer to become available.

The Flip 7 and Fold 7 are expected to launch in August, about a month after their July 9 announcement at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in New York City. The Flip 7 FE, although not officially named in the leak, will likely follow the same timeline as the other models, hitting the market around the same time.

Rumors point to the tri-fold being unveiled alongside the other devices, but it won’t be available for purchase until October. While the G Fold will only be available in select markets initially, its global availability will depend on how well it performs in the first few months. Samsung plans to manufacture a limited batch of about 200,000 units, with cautious sales expectations due to its high cost.

The Fold 7 is expected to be a significant improvement over its predecessor, featuring more advanced tech and design, although some criticisms remain. The 4,400 mAh battery, the same as the Fold 6, is a bit underwhelming, especially with only 25W wired charging. However, considering the competition, such as the Oppo Find N5 and Honor Magic V5, it’s clear that Samsung still has some catching up to do in terms of hardware. That said, Samsung’s strong software support (seven years) and the popularity of One UI might be enough to make the Fold 7 a standout in the foldable market.

The G Fold, with its unique tri-fold design, will likely face stiff competition from Huawei’s Mate XT, but its limited production run and high price point suggest Samsung is testing the waters before a wider release. If you’re looking for the most cutting-edge foldable, the Oppo and Honor models might still edge out the Fold 7, but for long-term software support and brand loyalty, Samsung might just have a winner.
