Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE Review: What’s New and What’s Not

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is the latest addition to Samsung’s foldable lineup, now available for purchase. It ships earlier than expected, with availability starting at €999. The phone comes in two color options: Black and White. On the outside, the Flip7 FE looks almost identical to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip6, but under the hood, there’s a noticeable difference. This model features Samsung’s own 4nm Exynos 2400 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM, while the Flip6 used a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with 12GB of RAM.

Although the new Exynos is an improvement over the previous model, the Snapdragon is still likely to offer better performance.

At first glance, the Flip7 FE doesn’t seem like a major upgrade. While it does come with the new Exynos chip, it also comes with a smaller storage base compared to the Flip6, which offers 256GB of storage as the entry-level option. The Flip7 FE’s storage starts at 128GB, making it a less attractive option if you’re looking for more space for less money.

When it comes to the display, the Flip7 FE’s cover screen is a bit of a letdown. It only offers a 60Hz refresh rate and doesn’t cover the entire front panel. This is in contrast to newer foldables, like the Galaxy Z Flip7, which feature a much more advanced cover display.

Comparing the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE to the Motorola Razr 60 series, the latter offers a larger, more functional cover screen, a bigger battery, and faster charging-all for a lower price. This makes the Flip7 FE less compelling in terms of value.

Despite the shortcomings, the Flip7 FE is not without its merits. We’ll need to run more tests to give it a fair review. Stay tuned for our full review to find out if this device is worth considering.
