Galaxy Z Fold 8 Could Be Samsung’s First Crease-Free Foldable

Samsung is reportedly gearing up to solve one of the biggest pain points in foldable phone design: the dreaded display crease.

With the Galaxy Z Fold 7 already pushing boundaries by being the thinnest and most polished foldable Samsung has made, it’s the next generation-potentially the Galaxy Z Fold 8-that could take the big leap toward a completely crease-free experience.

According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Samsung may introduce a breakthrough display design using a laser-drilled metal plate. This innovation would help spread the stress from repeated folds, significantly reducing-or potentially eliminating-the crease

. That tiny fold line, which has bugged users for years, could finally be gone.

The crease has been a common issue since the dawn of foldables. While Samsung has minimized its visibility over the years, it’s still there-noticeable both to the eye and under the finger. Chinese brands have managed to make notable progress in this area, but no one has completely cracked it yet.

The rumored new display panels could be supplied by Fine M-Tec, a Korean firm that might also deliver similar panels to Apple for its first foldable iPhone, also tipped for a 2026 debut. This sets the stage for a serious clash between tech titans-Samsung’s Z Fold 8 versus Apple’s first-ever foldable.

Of course, cutting-edge tech doesn’t come cheap. These advanced panels will likely cost more than current ones, which could result in a price bump for future foldables. Whether Samsung decides to absorb the cost or pass it on to consumers remains to be seen.

Some fans, especially those sensitive to touch imperfections, have held back from buying foldables precisely because of the crease. Others have learned to live with it-or simply don’t care. But a cleaner, smoother display could finally win over the skeptics and push foldables into the mainstream for real.

And there’s more. Rumors also suggest that Samsung might be working on a tri-foldable phone. If that happens, 2026 could be the year the foldable game gets flipped-again.

So if you’ve been holding out for a truly seamless foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 might be your moment. Let’s just hope it delivers more than a prettier screen: better battery, faster charging, and improved durability are still on the wish list.
