Samsung is potentially set to revolutionize how we track packages with an exciting new feature for its Now Brief tool.
The company may be adding delivery-related notifications to the Samsung Messages app, according to findings from an APK teardown (version 16.1.10.7). This means users might soon get alerts when they receive updates about their package deliveries.
The Now Brief feature debuted with One UI 7 and has been gradually growing in functionality. Recently, it was revealed that Samsung is also working on adding smart home updates, battery warnings for connected wearables, and even parking location alerts. Now, it seems delivery-related notifications could be next in line.
The discovery comes from analyzing strings of code hidden within the Samsung Messages app. One line of code states, “You got webp%2$d messages today about a delivery%3$s,” while another reads, “%d unread messages, including 1 package delivery message.” These lines suggest that the Now Brief feature won’t just show package updates but will also tally how many delivery-related messages were received on a particular day.
This new feature could prove to be incredibly useful for those who want to keep track of their deliveries without having to constantly check various apps or inboxes. Whether you’re waiting for a new tech gadget or a personal order, having direct alerts through Now Brief could make the whole process more convenient and streamlined.
However, it’s important to remember that these details come from an APK teardown, meaning they are based on unreleased app code. Features like this are often experimental and might not be rolled out in the final version of the app.
This possible update follows Samsung’s announcement that the Messages app would eventually be discontinued. Despite that, the app continues to receive new features, including birthday reminders, live location sharing, emoji and sticker reactions, and alerts about suspicious or blocked messages.
If these updates make it to a future release, the Now Brief feature could become an even more essential tool for users, evolving from its simple weather and calendar notifications to a more comprehensive suite of smart alerts. We’ll have to wait and see if package delivery alerts will be included in a public update, but Samsung’s ongoing development of Now Brief and the Messages app shows that the company is committed to improving its software experience, even if some of these features remain under wraps for now.
