Samsung Set to Launch One UI 8 Beta for Galaxy S24 and S23 Series Sooner Than Expected
After catching flak for the slow rollout of One UI 7 based on Android 15, Samsung seems determined not to repeat the same mistake. The tech giant has already begun beta testing One UI 8, built on Android 16, for its latest Galaxy S25 lineup.
Now, rumors suggest good news for those with slightly older flagships-namely the Galaxy S24 and S23 series.
According to insider leaks, Samsung is planning to release the One UI 8 beta for the Galaxy S24 series in late June or early July. Galaxy S23 users may get access a couple of weeks later, in early to mid-July. Considering Google’s expected Android 16 release by the end of this month, this timing puts Samsung ahead of its usual schedule.
While betas aren’t always the most exciting for the average user, they play a crucial role in identifying bugs before a stable release. Last year’s One UI 7 rollout was marred by bugs and delays, which soured public opinion. This time around, Samsung may benefit from the fact that One UI 8 isn’t a massive overhaul-it’s more of a refinement update. That could speed things up significantly.
Still, some users are skeptical. A vocal part of the community argues that skipping beta versions entirely could lead to a quicker launch of the final update. But many others point out that betas help ensure stability-especially for users who rely on their phones for more than just flashy features. In truth, Samsung is stuck between a rock and a hard place: release a beta and be called slow, or skip it and be accused of pushing buggy software.
So what’s in One UI 8? While details are sparse, speculation points to deeper integration of AI features, possibly enhancing Bixby with something akin to Perplexity AI. Some users are also hoping for practical fixes-like better battery percentage visibility and improvements to Wi-Fi 7 compatibility.
Either way, the upcoming beta signals Samsung’s desire to move faster and smarter this time. If they manage to keep things smooth and timely, it could help restore confidence lost with the One UI 7 debacle. For now, Galaxy S24 and S23 users can keep an eye out for those early beta invites hitting devices soon.

ngl I still think they gon delay stable like last year 😂 but hey, at least we’re gettin the beta faster this time
Betas are annoying but better than getting a buggy full update and bricking my phone 💀
Wait, are they finally gonna fix that fake 6ghz hotspot issue? Cuz my Wi-Fi 7 device still can’t see it smh
lol Samsung could cure cancer and ppl like Yext would still say they’re too slow or too fast 🤷♂️
It’s wild how fast they’re moving now. I still remember waiting forever for Android 15 on my S23..
I just want the old battery icon back 😭 my mom can’t read the new one on her S24
Honestly, I don’t use the AI stuff but if it helps Bixby be less dumb, then yeah, bring it on
