Samsung: Don’t Give Up on the Galaxy G Fold Just Yet

Samsung’s latest Galaxy Unpacked event delivered expected thrills with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and a new Fan Edition model-but there was one glaring omission: the long-rumored tri-fold phone, the Galaxy G Fold. For fans and tech enthusiasts, the absence sparked disappointment and confusion.

Where was the next bold leap?

According to recent interviews, Samsung might be holding back due to uncertainty about market demand. Early reports suggested a limited release of the G Fold in a few countries, but now its global debut feels doubtful. The company seems to think people aren’t ready-or willing-to pay for a tri-fold just yet.

Sure, such a device would carry a hefty price tag. But so did the first Galaxy Fold. And Huawei didn’t hesitate to roll out its Mate XT tri-fold, proving that innovation sometimes needs to lead rather than follow demand. The Mate XT may not be easy to get in the West due to the Google ban, but it exists, and it works.

I’ll admit it-I was a foldable skeptic. The visible crease turned me off, and I kept waiting for Apple to enter the game. But the Galaxy Z Fold 7 flipped the script. It’s powerful, sleek, and that crease? Practically gone. For the first time, I saw foldables not as gimmicks, but as genuinely useful tools. If Samsung can do that with a bi-fold, imagine what it could achieve with a tri-fold.

Apple is preparing to unleash a wave of new devices, including the foldable iPhone and a no-notch iPhone Pro for the 20th anniversary. If Samsung wants to stay ahead, the G Fold is its ticket. It offers something Apple doesn’t yet have: a form factor that redefines mobility and multitasking.

Let’s face it-the Galaxy S25 Edge isn’t lighting up the sales charts, yet Samsung is already cooking up a follow-up model. If the Edge can survive, why not the G Fold? Especially when it could set the benchmark in a new category. Samsung, don’t wait for the market to be ready-shape it. Bring the Galaxy G Fold to the world and start the tri-fold era now.
