Sea of Remnants isn’t your typical pirate-themed RPG. Set for a 2026 release on PC and mobile, Joker Studio’s newest creation dives deep into an eerie and imaginative world that blends haunted puppetry with glam rock aesthetics.
Imagine a twisted sailor’s tale unfolding in a cursed toybox-haunting, stylish, and strangely emotional.
Players step into the boots of a memory-wiped sailor embarking on a journey to uncover a cursed destination. The central hub of the adventure is Orbtopia, a lawless pirate city brimming with strange NPCs, cultures, and secrets. From there, you’ll explore vast oceans, discover forgotten islands, raid ships, and face massive sea monsters-all under a living, breathing weather system that can shift the tide of adventure at any moment.
But Sea of Remnants is more than combat and exploration. There’s fishing, cooking, and even rounds of mahjong to enjoy aboard your customizable vessel. Joker Studio emphasizes emotional immersion: “If a puppet’s mind is soaked in water, memories slip away into the ocean, yet they still choose to return and sail again.” This poetic line, drawn from a Chinese idiom, underpins the game’s exploration of memory, loss, and the unrelenting pull of the sea.
The team cites inspirations from JRPGs, CRPGs, and indie open-world experiences, but insists their main goal was to create something that feels deeply personal. The studio’s previous title, Identity V, captivated fans with its gothic visuals and horror gameplay-and while Sea of Remnants is a separate world entirely, there may be hidden nods for eagle-eyed players.
Joker Studio promises a game full of rich lore, emotional storytelling, and eerie beauty-a romantic journey across troubled waters, inviting players to get lost and perhaps find something meaningful along the way.
