Simon Cowell Dives Into Pokémon Card Collecting After Years of Fame

Simon Cowell, the famous music mogul known for his work on The X Factor and American Idol, has switched gears in a surprising new venture – hunting for rare Pokémon cards.

After spending years discovering talent, Cowell, now 65, has been spotted indulging in a different kind of collection: the colorful world of Pokémon Trading Cards.

Recently, Cowell was seen at the London Trading Card Show in Croydon Boxpark, where he dropped a small fortune on some high-value cards. One of his big purchases was a Rayquaza VMAX Alt Art card, graded PSA 10 – a premium item that can be worth up to $2,700. A photo of the moment was shared by the seller, Onfire Trading Cards, on Instagram, showcasing Cowell’s purchase.

Onfire Trading Cards revealed that Cowell was in the market for all sorts of collectibles, not just the rare Rayquaza, which has become the talk of the show. The trader jokingly mentioned that they regretted not singing for Cowell while sealing the deal, a playful nod to the music mogul’s famous role as a judge. Some fans speculated that Cowell might be buying the cards for his 11-year-old son, Eric, given the popularity of Pokémon cards among young collectors.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) remains a thriving hobby, with collectors shelling out impressive sums for rare finds. Even cards from recent sets, like the Scarlet & Violet expansion, can fetch hefty prices – some Charizard ex cards have been sold for over $180. However, some of the rarest cards are not for sale, such as the Popplio card recently blessed by Pope Leo. Could Simon Cowell be interested in making an offer? Time will tell!
