The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset, is still months away from release, but early benchmarks have already surfaced online, and they suggest that this new chip will bring impressive performance upgrades. Based on the benchmark scores, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is set to outperform its predecessor by a significant margin.

According to reliable leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS), the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will bring major improvements in both CPU and GPU performance. Qualcomm’s in-house Oryon CPU architecture will boost single-core performance by nearly 30%, and the multi-core and GPU upgrades are equally significant. With a single-core score of over 4,000 (up from 3,100) and a multi-core score of 11,000+ (up from 9,800), the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is shaping up to be a powerhouse.

One of the standout features is the Adreno 840 GPU, which, although lacking specific benchmark numbers, is expected to score impressively. The GPU’s clock speed will increase to 1.35 GHz from 1.1 GHz, a notable improvement. As for the CPU, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will use a 2+6 core architecture, with the highest core clocking in at up to 4.8GHz, and the remaining cores running at a base frequency of 4.4GHz. It will be built using TSMC’s cutting-edge 3nm process, ensuring top-tier performance and efficiency.

While Qualcomm hasn’t officially confirmed the release date of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, the Snapdragon Summit scheduled for September 23, 2025, is expected to be the event where the chip will be unveiled. However, MediaTek is reportedly preparing to launch its Dimensity 9500 chipset even earlier, which could give Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 some competition.

We’re heading into a competitive second half of the year, with multiple flagship devices expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and the Dimensity 9500, including phones like the Xiaomi 16 with Qualcomm’s new chip, and the Oppo Find X9 and Vivo X300 with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500.
