Sony Tells Marvel to Hold Off on Live-Action Miles Morales, Says Kevin Feige

Marvel fans hoping to see Miles Morales swing into the MCU will need to keep waiting – possibly for years.

According to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, Sony has explicitly asked Marvel to stay away from bringing a live-action Miles Morales to the screen, at least for now.

Feige recently confirmed in a press roundtable that any plans to introduce the beloved character – previously seen only in Sony’s hit animated Spider-Verse films – are currently at a standstill. “We’ve been told to stay away,” Feige said, making it clear that Marvel is respecting Sony’s control over the Miles Morales storyline while the Spider-Verse trilogy wraps up. The final film in that series, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is slated for a June 25, 2027 release.

Fans had speculated that the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland and releasing July 31, 2026, might hint at Miles. After all, past breadcrumbs in the MCU have teased his presence. Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis – aka The Prowler and Miles’ uncle – appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming and even dropped a line about having a nephew in New York. More recently, Daredevil: Born Again referenced an Officer Morales, fueling theories that Miles’ father exists in the MCU already.

Still, Sony appears to want full control of Miles’ live-action debut, preferring to keep him exclusive to their ongoing animated universe for now. That leaves Tom Holland’s Peter Parker continuing as the sole Spider-Man in the MCU, at least for this next trilogy. Holland himself has expressed he won’t play the character forever, which keeps the door open for Miles to appear – just not before 2027.

In the meantime, fans can still enjoy the dual-Spidey dynamic in the Spider-Man video games by Insomniac, where both Peter and Miles shine in playable roles. And for those eagerly awaiting more Marvel universe shakeups, Feige also confirmed that the X-Men will be completely recast for their MCU debut, as part of a wider universe reset following Avengers: Secret Wars.

So while a live-action Miles Morales might be off-limits for now, the future of the Spider-Verse – and the MCU – still looks like it’s got plenty of twists left in the web.
