Bethesda might be holding back its next major leap into the stars. Rumors suggest that the second Starfield expansion, allegedly titled Starborn, won’t launch in 2025. Insider Nate the Hate shared this on ResetERA, revealing that while development is ongoing, fans may need to buckle in for a longer wait.
The delay may turn out to be a blessing. 
Shattered Space, the first DLC, dropped just a year after the base game-but many felt it was underwhelming. Despite offering a tighter narrative, its limited scope, lack of fresh mechanics, and uninspired quest design left players frustrated rather than thrilled. A rushed release of Starborn could repeat those mistakes.
If Bethesda is taking its time, it might mean the next chapter brings more substance-new systems, deeper exploration, and perhaps a revitalized reason to return to the Settled Systems. While no one enjoys delays, a more ambitious and polished expansion might be just what Starfield needs to regain its trajectory among sci-fi RPGs.
Currently, Starfield and Shattered Space are available on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Rumors of a PlayStation 5 port continue to swirl, though no confirmation has landed yet. Until then, fans will have to manage their expectations-and maybe explore other galaxies in the meantime.
