Stellar Blade developer Shift Up recently received a Nintendo Switch 2 development kit, but that doesn’t mean a port of the game is in the works just yet.
According to a new report from PlayForum, translated by Automaton Media, Shift Up has started to explore the possibility of adapting their hit action RPG for the next-gen console, but no formal development is underway.
The studio’s acquisition of the Switch 2 development kit signals an interest in creating games for the upcoming platform. They’ve reportedly begun crafting content that reflects the specifications and features of the new console, drawing from their experience in developing Stellar Blade for PlayStation 5 and PC. Despite this, the studio has made it clear that a Switch 2 port is not confirmed, as they are still evaluating options internally.
After being a PlayStation 5 exclusive for a year, Stellar Blade launched on PC just last week. The game has already made a significant splash on the platform, reaching 1 million units sold in just three days, and crossing the 3 million mark soon after. This success highlights the game’s quality, which has been praised for its stunning visuals and exciting action RPG gameplay.
While some may have issues with the portrayal of the game’s protagonist, Eve, others find her character design fits well within the action genre. With Stellar Blade earning strong reviews for its engaging combat and narrative, fans of the genre will likely be thrilled with its future potential on new platforms, including possibly the Switch 2.
