Paris-based developer Streum On Studio has announced that it is parting ways with Focus Entertainment and becoming independent once again. Founded in 2007 by a group of developers who had previously worked on a Half-Life mod called Syndicate Black Ops, Streum On Studio first made waves with their release of E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy on July 29, 2011. The first-person action RPG, powered by the Source engine, is set in a dystopian cyberpunk world and is based on a private tabletop RPG. The game follows the story of E.Y.E, a faction attempting a coup against the Federation, an oppressive coalition that controls various planets and worlds. The narrative is riddled with political intrigue and conflict between rival factions, with players caught in a complex web of conspiracies and power struggles.
After their debut, Streum On Studio shifted focus to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, launching the first-person shooters Space Hulk: Deathwing in 2016 and Necromunda: Hired Gun in 2021.
Despite these successful releases, Streum On Studio was acquired by Focus Entertainment, only to part ways after a brief four-year partnership. The developer has now purchased back its shares from Focus and is once again charting its own course.
Streum On Studio has already teased its next project, with a brief trailer hinting at what’s to come. The studio plans to debut its new game at an upcoming event, most likely at Gamescom, which takes place from August 19 to 24 in Cologne. With the Summer Game Fest now behind us, all eyes are on this major European event for the big reveal.

Honestly, I didn’t expect Streum On to break away, but I guess they want more control over their games. Let’s see what they bring to Gamescom 👀
