HBO Max is bringing another exciting spinoff to the screen with a new series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. The show revolves around comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, a character from The Big Bang Theory, who finds himself in a high-stakes situation. After accidentally breaking a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, Stuart unwittingly triggers a multiverse Armageddon. In order to restore reality, he teams up with his girlfriend Denise, geologist Bert, and the ever-grating physicist Barry Kripke.
Together, they embark on an interdimensional quest that introduces alternate-universe versions of the beloved characters we know from the original series. However, as the title suggests, things don’t go according to plan.
Chuck Lorre, the creator of The Big Bang Theory, expressed his enthusiasm for stepping outside his comfort zone with this project. “I wanted to create something that would challenge me and be a departure from the familiar,” he said. Co-creator Zak Penn echoed this sentiment, noting they aimed to make a show that the original characters would watch. HBO Max is clearly excited, with Casey Bloys, HBO Max boss, commenting on how this new chapter continues the legacy of the original show, thanks to the vision of Lorre, Penn, and the exceptional creative team. The show will feature heavy special effects and CGI, which will bring the sci-fi elements to life, making for a thrilling viewing experience.
Though the casting details and premiere date are still under wraps, 2026 seems like a good guess for when we can expect the series to hit the streaming platform.
