Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ Unboxing and Hands-On: Surprisingly Sleek for the Price

The Tecno Spark 40 Pro+ arrives with an unexpected blend of style and substance, aimed squarely at users on a tight budget who still crave a bit of flair. Straight out of the box, the Spark 40 Pro+ offers a generous package: a transparent case with built-in magnets compatible with MagSafe and Qi2 wireless chargers, a USB-A to USB-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, and a 45W fast charger-yes, in 2025, that’s still a pleasant surprise.

The phone’s design bucks current trends.

Instead of the usual flat and squared-off look found in many modern devices, the Spark 40 Pro+ goes curvy. It features symmetrical curves on both the front and back, making the 6.5mm thin body feel even sleeker. At just 160 grams, it’s incredibly light, almost toylike-but in a good way.

The 6.78-inch AMOLED display curves gently over the sides and refreshes at a buttery-smooth 144Hz. It can hit 700 nits of brightness, making it very usable outdoors, even if HDR support is missing. It’s not cinema-grade, but it gets the job done-and looks quite nice doing it.

Powering the Spark 40 Pro+ is a MediaTek Helio chipset that won’t break any records, but that’s not really the point here. For its UGX 769,000 (~$214) price tag in Uganda, the focus is on aesthetics, convenience, and value. The phone even includes an IR blaster cleverly disguised as one of the rear camera “lenses”-a detail easily mistaken for a fake camera module at first glance.

While some may criticize its midrange internals and design simplicity, others will find this to be a great budget-friendly device with features typically seen in higher-tier models. For first-time buyers or anyone looking for a stylish backup phone, Tecno’s Spark 40 Pro+ makes a solid impression-without the bulk or the price tag of a Pro Max Ultra.
