Temuera Morrison, the man behind the mask of Boba Fett, has voiced his frustration at being left out of the Star Wars spotlight since The Book of Boba Fett aired in early 2022.
In a candid interview, Morrison shared that he’s ‘sad’ about the lack of continuation for his character and that he feels like he’s been ‘preserved for a later date,’ comparing himself to a jar of grandma’s peaches sitting on a shelf.
Although The Book of Boba Fett attempted to reframe the iconic bounty hunter as a softer, more honorable figure, many fans felt it missed the mark. From awkward fight scenes to tonal inconsistencies and odd side plots (remember the neon Vespa gang?), the show left audiences divided. Some saw potential, but the execution just didn’t stick the landing.
Morrison hasn’t been idle, though. He recently pitched an idea to appear in Ahsoka Season 2 – not as Boba, but as Clone Captain Rex. It’s a clever move, given his unique role as the face of all clones. Despite bumping into Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau and reminding them of Boba’s existence, Morrison was met with vague responses, fueling speculation that Lucasfilm has no immediate plans for his return.
Fan sentiment is equally mixed. While some argue that Boba’s legacy deserved a grittier, more focused arc – perhaps centered on his early bounty hunting years or a darker underworld tale – others believe the character was mishandled beyond repair. The show tried to straddle the line between redemption and reverence, but instead left Boba helmetless, getting outwitted and outshone by guest appearances.
Still, there’s a lingering hope that Morrison’s Boba could return with stronger writing and a clearer direction. The idea of integrating him into future Mandalorian content or as a veteran Clone in a new project hasn’t been ruled out. Until then, fans – and Morrison himself – remain in limbo, waiting to see if Boba Fett will fly again.
