Tesla’s Q2 2025 delivery numbers are not as bad as initially feared, despite ongoing challenges and leadership changes. Elon Musk’s direct intervention in overseeing Tesla’s sales in North America and Europe seems to have come too late to turn around the company’s performance for the quarter. Tesla revealed that it delivered 384,122 units in Q2 2025, just shy of the Wall Street consensus estimate of 392,000 units.

This was a slight dip compared to the 336,681 units delivered in Q1 2025.

While analysts like Troy Teslike had expected lower numbers, around 356,000 units, the actual results came close to these projections. Tesla’s production for Q2 2025 stood at 410,244 units, meaning that production outpaced deliveries by a considerable margin. In particular, the Model 3 and Model Y models made up the bulk of the deliveries, with 373,728 units sold, while 10,394 units of other models, including the Cybertruck, were also delivered.

The Days of Finished Goods Inventory metric, which tracks how many days of supply Tesla has in stock, increased from 23 days at the end of Q1 to 25.26 days in Q2. This reflects an increase in the company’s inventory level to 129,386 units, alongside a higher daily delivery rate of 5,121 vehicles. The increase in inventory could indicate slower-than-expected sales or an effort to boost supply for the coming quarters.

Meanwhile, Tesla has come under scrutiny from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) following reports of traffic violations by its robotaxis. These incidents, including failures to stay in lanes and adhere to speed limits, highlight potential risks with Tesla’s autonomous driving technology, especially when compared to competitors like Waymo, which has experienced fewer critical errors over a far greater distance with fewer vehicles.
