The Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow” is the latest in a series of limited-edition timepieces from Tudor, continuing the brand’s collaboration with the cycling world. Originally launched in 2024, the Pelagos FXD Chrono made waves with its cycling-inspired design, and now, just over a year later, Tudor has unveiled the “Yellow” edition to mark the return of Fabian Cancellara, the former champion cyclist and Tudor ambassador, to the Tour de France.
However, this time, Cancellara will be seen leading his own team, the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, rather than riding himself.
Cancellara’s deep ties with Tudor go beyond his status as an ambassador. After retiring from competitive cycling in 2016, Cancellara partnered with Tudor to create the Tudor Pro Cycling Team in 2022. The team will compete in the prestigious Tour de France for the first time in 2025
. As the Tour de France leader famously wears the yellow jersey, Tudor’s new Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow” edition pays homage to this iconic symbol of victory in the sport.
The Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow” is quite similar to its predecessor, the Pelagos FXD Chrono “Pink,” with the main distinction being the vibrant yellow accents. This new model is a limited edition of just 300 units, just like the “Pink” model released earlier in 2025.
Both feature an engraved caseback depicting cyclists, a detail that reinforces the cycling theme while also adding a personal touch with each watch’s limited-edition number. The caseback of the “Yellow” edition features a different engraving than its predecessor, showcasing two cyclists in an overhead view.
Notably, the design and materials remain consistent with the Pelagos FXD Chrono’s established aesthetic. The 43mm carbon composite case is robust yet lightweight, with titanium chronograph pushers and a screw-down crown. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters, making it suitable for a variety of environments. The domed sapphire crystal adds a touch of elegance while maintaining the watch’s sporty functionality. The fabric strap, like the “Pink” version, features a distinctive pass-through design with a yellow stripe running down the center, perfectly complementing the bold color scheme of the dial.
The dial itself is where the biggest changes are made. While the “Cycling Edition” models feature white subdial markings framed by red rings, the “Yellow” edition adopts the same design but swaps the accents for a bold yellow hue. The “Snowflake” hands and luminescent hour markers are consistent with the other models in the Pelagos FXD range, while the tachymeter scale has been specially calibrated for cycling speeds, enhancing the watch’s functionality for cycling enthusiasts.
Powering the Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow” is the same Caliber MT5813 automatic chronograph movement found in its siblings. This movement, based on the Breitling Caliber B01, features a column wheel and vertical clutch, running at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with a power reserve of around 70 hours. While it doesn’t carry the METAS certification like some of Tudor’s other models, the Caliber MT5813 is still a high-performance movement that meets Tudor’s in-house accuracy standards of -2/+4 seconds per day, far exceeding the traditional COSC certification of -4/+6 seconds.
While the Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow” is visually striking and a testament to Tudor’s commitment to the cycling world, its third iteration in just over a year raises questions about the brand’s future direction in chronographs. Tudor has released several limited-edition chronographs over the past year, including models for racing events like the Giro d’Italia and a partnership with the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team. These chronographs all feature carbon composite cases, and it’s clear that Tudor is making a strong push in the chronograph space. However, there’s speculation that Tudor may be gearing up to introduce an in-house chronograph movement, given its ongoing partnership with Breitling and recent releases. The introduction of so many limited editions could be seen as a way for Tudor to clear out inventory before a new in-house chronograph caliber is unveiled.
The Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow” is priced at $5,600 USD, the same as the standard-production models, despite its limited-edition status. With only 299 units available for the public (number 7 reserved for Cancellara himself), it is expected to sell out quickly. For those seeking an exclusive, high-performance chronograph with a distinct colorway, the Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow” offers a unique blend of style, functionality, and limited-edition appeal.
