Vincent D’Onofrio, the face of Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again, has once again proven he’s not just playing Wilson Fisk – he practically is him, especially when it comes to handling criticism with cold-blooded poise. After a fan accused Disney of “nerfing” Kingpin in the new Disney+ series, D’Onofrio fired back with a response that was both classy and cutting – and totally in character.

The drama started when a fan took to social media to bemoan the softer portrayal of Fisk: “Wilson Fisk got nerfed like the Hulk,” the post read.

“Not your fault Disney didn’t rehire the Netflix writers. Hope Season 2 returns to what made the Netflix show so damn good.”

D’Onofrio didn’t let the jab slide. He calmly replied: “I have to say I disagree with all that you say. To be honest my performances have been called many things but never nerfed. Lol. Yet I don’t play the part just for you and you don’t watch TV just for me. So we are even and I accept your criticism. No matter the lack of good sportsmanship, fairness and legitimacy.”

Classic Fisk energy – reserved, yet intimidating. And it didn’t end there. When the fan doubled down, claiming Netflix’s Kingpin would’ve gone full scorched-earth instead of locking someone in a cage, D’Onofrio delivered a masterclass in calm clapbacks.

“I control my character’s performance,” he wrote. “You are a bit green when it comes to your knowledge on making a show… You may not like it. Many do though. We can’t please everyone but we can please millions and they’ve said so.”

He finished with something that felt more like a monologue than a tweet: “As an actor I fail in my eyes everyday… What we don’t do is try and ruin millions of others’ fun when we don’t like a piece. Instead, we champion the stuff we do like and become inspired by it. Try it.”

This moment has fans buzzing – not just about D’Onofrio’s Kingpin, but his refreshing perspective on fandom, criticism, and creativity. While some viewers do think Daredevil himself was more underpowered than Fisk in the new series, there’s no denying the towering presence D’Onofrio continues to bring to the MCU.

Daredevil: Born Again returns next year with more tension, more blood, and the highly anticipated comeback of Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones. Whether or not you love the reboot, one thing’s for sure – Wilson Fisk is far from nerfed.
