The vivo T4 Ultra introduces a bold new contender in the T4 lineup, bringing a notable telephoto camera and a flagship-grade chipset to the midrange table.
Powered by the Dimensity 9300+, the same processor used in last year’s vivo X100s Pro, this phone blends performance with some standout photography features, though with a few curious trade-offs.
While it doesn’t match the X100s Pro’s camera array, the T4 Ultra surpasses its T4 siblings: the March-released T4x with a Dimensity 7300 and the April T4 with Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. Both predecessors come with basic 50MP main cameras and modest 2MP helpers. Here, vivo steps up with a 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor (1/1.56”) paired with an f/1.88 lens and OIS for steady shots.
The highlight is the 50MP periscope telephoto camera offering 3x optical zoom, an f/2.55 lens, OIS, and an IMX882 sensor (1/1.95”). It also supports a 10x telephoto macro mode and advanced video stabilization (OIS+EIS), putting it ahead of many in its class. Complementing these is an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 32MP selfie camera.
On display, the T4 Ultra sports the smallest panel in the series at 6.67 inches, but it’s arguably the best: a quad-curved OLED with 1260p+ resolution, 10-bit color depth, and a fluid 120Hz refresh rate. The screen can reach an eye-popping 5,000 nits peak local brightness, with 1,600 nits globally, enhancing outdoor visibility. An optical under-display fingerprint reader rounds out the front-facing features.
Battery-wise, the Ultra takes a surprising step down to 5,500mAh, compared to the T4’s 6,500mAh and the T4x’s massive 7,300mAh pack. However, it retains fast 90W charging to get you powered up quickly. This lighter and slimmer phone (7.43mm thick and 192g) also upgrades its build with a glass back instead of plastic, though it holds an IP64 rating, which falls short of many competitors offering IP67 or better.
The phone comes in three memory configurations: 8/256GB, 12/256GB, and 12/512GB, all with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, cooled by a 43.62cm² vapor chamber for thermal management. Running on FuntouchOS 15 based on Android 15, the T4 Ultra promises two OS upgrades and three years of security patches.
Manufactured in India, the T4 Ultra is available for pre-order via vivo India, Flipkart, and offline stores, with sales starting June 18. Pricing starts at ₹38,000 (~$445) for the base model, with launch discounts and trade-in bonuses sweetening the deal.
While the T4 Ultra impresses with flagship-tier chipset and innovative camera features, some aspects feel unbalanced. The smaller battery capacity on the highest-end model and limited software updates raise questions, especially compared to rivals offering longer support and larger batteries. The ultra-wide camera also feels a bit underwhelming, lacking premium branding seen on cheaper vivo models.
Still, the T4 Ultra offers a compelling package for those prioritizing camera versatility and performance in a sleek, bright display phone – but prospective buyers should weigh these benefits against its compromises.
