The Vivo X Fold 5 and Honor Magic V5 are both set to make their debut in June, and Vivo has already begun teasing their flagship foldable.

Vivo’s product manager, Han Boxiao, recently shared an official image of the X Fold 5, showing off its internal display. The picture came with some exciting details, such as the use of LTPO 8T panels, promising smoother visuals whether you’re browsing or gaming, thanks to its adaptive refresh rate.

One of the standout features of the X Fold 5 is its brightness. Both the main and cover displays can reach an impressive 4,500 nits, significantly outperforming the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s 2,600 nits peak brightness. This improvement is paired with high-frequency PWM dimming, designed to reduce eye strain during extended use.

Color accuracy is another area where the X Fold 5 shines. Vivo has partnered with Zeiss to incorporate Master Color technology, which optimizes the color reproduction for more lifelike visuals.

While Boxiao didn’t reveal many additional details about the phone, one notable feature in the image is a new button on the left side of the device. Unlike previous models that featured an alert slider, Vivo appears to have replaced it with a new physical button. Its exact function remains unclear, but speculation suggests it could be a customizable button or even one dedicated to AI tasks.

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the Vivo X Fold 5 is its impressive durability. Vivo has confirmed that the foldable will be the first in the industry to feature IPX8/IPX9 water resistance ratings, making it capable of withstanding immersion in water up to 3 meters deep. In a surprising twist, Vivo claims the X Fold 5 can open and close 1,000 times at a depth of 1 meter underwater-though this feature will likely appeal to a very niche audience.
