Vivo has teased some exciting details about its upcoming X Fold5 ahead of its official announcement on June 25.
The foldable device is expected to offer several improvements over its predecessor, including being thinner, lighter, and equipped with a more powerful battery.
One of the key upgrades is the X Fold5’s slimmer profile – it is reportedly 2mm thinner and 20 grams lighter than the X Fold3 Pro. With a weight of just 216g and a thickness of 9.2mm when closed, this device promises to be one of the most compact foldables yet, though the exact dimensions when opened depend on the hinge design.
In a bold move, Vivo is focusing on maintaining battery life without sacrificing performance. The X Fold5 will feature a larger 6,000mAh battery, an increase of 300mAh from its predecessor. This improvement is made possible by the use of a fourth-generation silicon anode, which increases the battery density by 13%. Additionally, the second-generation semi-solid electrolyte ensures that the battery remains functional even at extremely low temperatures of -30°C (-22°F).
Other exciting features include a highly durable build with an IP5X rating for dust protection and an IPX9+ rating for water resistance, which allows the device to be folded and unfolded even while submerged. The X Fold5 will also boast LTPO 8T panels on both the cover and main displays, offering an impressive 4,500 nits of peak brightness and Zeiss Master Color calibration for top-tier display quality.
With all these features, the X Fold5 is set to challenge its competitors, offering a blend of performance, durability, and innovation. The only remaining question is how it will stack up against rival foldables, especially considering the ongoing rumors about the next-generation Snapdragon chips.
