Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Patch 8.0 Brings Siege Mode and Technical Upgrades

Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 Patch 8.0 Brings Siege Mode, NVIDIA DLSS 4, and Ray Traced Ambient Occlusion

Patch 8.0 for Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 is now live, and it brings some exciting new features and enhancements to the game. Among the highlights is the highly anticipated Siege Mode, a new PvE addition that takes the existing Operations mode to a whole new level. In Siege Mode, players will face endless waves of enemies, providing a true test of skill and teamwork. When the going gets tough, reinforcements can be called to help turn the tide of battle.

Siege Mode includes three distinct sectors, each offering its own strategic challenges. Side objectives will appear during the fight, offering the opportunity to summon elite Space Marines or even the powerful Dreadnought, which can dramatically alter the course of the battle. Compared to the earlier Public Test Server build, the developers have made key changes to the wave timer system. Instead of a limited timer per wave, the entire session now has a single timer that extends with each wave you defeat. The enemies will grow stronger after the 15th wave, ensuring that the difficulty curve is fair and balanced. These adjustments aim to provide a more engaging and challenging experience for players without the stress of a constantly ticking clock.

There’s also the addition of a private mode toggle to disable bot spawning, giving players full control over their gameplay environment. On the technical side, the update introduces ray traced ambient occlusion (RTAO) as an experimental feature, adding even more visual depth and realism. Additionally, the game now supports NVIDIA DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation, enhancing both graphics and performance, especially for those with GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs. These technical upgrades promise to deliver improved visuals and faster frame rates for PC players.

Along with these exciting additions, the patch also includes numerous balance tweaks and updates, including changes to difficulty scaling in the later waves of Siege Mode. And while these updates are already impressive, Saber Interactive has teased that a significant update to the customization system is on the way. Players will soon be able to reuse chapter champion armor parts on other classes (subject to lore accuracy and technical limitations). Expect more details on this in a future update.

It’s also worth noting that Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 has surpassed 7 million units sold, cementing its place as a beloved title in the Warhammer 40K franchise. With the announcement of Space Marine 3 in the pipeline, fans have plenty to look forward to in the coming years.
