WWDC 2025 is happening tomorrow, June 9, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most transformative Apple events in years. With both major software redesigns and fresh hardware announcements expected, here’s everything you need to know before the keynote kicks off.
iOS 26 and a Whole New Look
Apple is set to skip iOS 19 and go straight to iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, aligning version numbers with the calendar year. But it’s not just a name change – a major redesign is on the way. Inspired by the Vision Pro interface, iOS 26 could feature rounded icons, translucent menus, floating glass-like buttons, and pill-shaped navigation bars. Both Home and Lock Screens are getting upgraded widgets and interactive elements, promising a sleeker and more cohesive cross-platform experience.
AI enhancements will be deeply woven into the system, optimizing battery life and powering new smart Shortcuts. Still, not everyone’s thrilled – some users feel AI is being over-hyped, with most features offering little real value. Even so, Apple plans to introduce live translation across calls and messages, and smarter Siri interactions across all devices.
iPad, macOS, and Beyond
The iPad is moving closer to Mac-level multitasking, with more flexible window controls and a new calligraphy mode for the Apple Pencil. Meanwhile, macOS – rumored to be called Tahoe – will mirror the new iOS design language and debut a dedicated gaming app, enhanced AirPods controls, and likely, live translation baked right in.
watchOS and tvOS are also getting visual refreshes, deeper AirPods support, and shared translation features. As for visionOS, rumors hint at document eye-scrolling and third-party controller support using a new Magic Wand mode.
Hardware Teasers
On the hardware side, the spotlight may shine on a redesigned Mac Pro, the first major update since Apple ditched Intel chips. Say goodbye to the ‘cheese grater’ look – the redesign is expected to be more modular and future-focused.
The HomePod is getting a display and tighter HomeKit integration, potentially making it a smart home command center. AI will reportedly help with automation and voice control. Updates to AirTags remain under wraps, but new features are promised.
And although we may not get new AirPods hardware, fresh software capabilities are coming: head gestures for call control, auto-pause when you fall asleep, a camera shutter trigger, and even a ‘studio mic’ mode for clearer voice chats.
