The Xbox 2026 first-party lineup is shaping up to be a thrilling year for fans, with some of the biggest franchises returning to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary. During the Xbox Games Showcase 2025, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer made an exciting announcement regarding the titles coming next year. Among the confirmed releases are the highly anticipated new entries in the Forza, Fable, and Gears of War series. 
But there’s also a tantalizing hint at something Halo-related, sparking rumors and speculation.
Spencer mentioned, ‘As we think about bringing a new generation of players to these iconic franchises, I’m excited to share that players will get to celebrate 25 years of Xbox with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and the return of a classic that’s been with us since the beginning.’
The announcement confirms Gears of War: E-Day and Fable, both of which are highly anticipated. But the details surrounding the new Forza game are still unclear. It’s uncertain whether it will be a continuation of the mainline simulation series developed by Turn 10 or a new Forza Horizon game. Given the timing-Forza Horizon 5 launched in 2021 and the latest Forza Motorsport was released in 2023-it’s likely the next Forza will be a Horizon title, which has always been more popular with fans.
However, the biggest intrigue is Spencer’s mention of the return of a classic franchise. Most fans are speculating that this could be a new Halo game, perhaps a remake or remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved, which would celebrate the franchise’s roots. Alternatively, some wonder if Spencer might be teasing the return of Project Gotham Racing, another classic Xbox franchise. Although, it’s unlikely he would focus so much on racing when a new Forza is already confirmed for 2026. Whatever the case, we may get more details before the end of the year.
