Microsoft is reportedly teaming up with the developers behind the popular Xenia Canary emulator to bring original Xbox and Xbox 360 games to modern platforms, including PC, Game Pass, Series X/S, and xCloud. According to a new leak by Xbox Game Pass insider eXstas1s, this ‘Classics’ program will deliver enhanced versions of old favorites, including Fable 2, Skate 3, Gears of War 3, and Batman: Arkham Asylum, among others. 
The goal is to breathe new life into these classics, offering visual and performance upgrades to make them playable on today’s hardware. The launch will coincide with Xbox’s 25th anniversary, and the program is expected to roll out in waves throughout 2026.
This project is exciting, especially for PC gamers who have been left out of some iconic Xbox 360 titles like Fable 2 and the original Ninja Gaiden games. With backward compatibility already a core feature for Xbox, this new initiative makes perfect sense. However, Microsoft has yet to make an official statement, so it’s wise to take this news with a pinch of salt until further details emerge.
