Apple iOS 26 Developer Beta 2: New Features & iPhone 17 Air Display Leak

Apple has just rolled out iOS 26 Developer Beta 2, following the initial release two weeks ago after the WWDC keynote.

However, Apple had to push out a revised version of Beta 1 on June 13 due to a bug that caused the low battery indicator to erroneously show up on the display, preventing some iPhones from powering on after the update.

To install iOS 26 Developer Beta 2 on a compatible iPhone, first make sure you’re part of the Apple Beta program. Then, go to Settings > General > Software Update and follow the on-screen instructions. If you’re not enrolled yet, head over to www.beta.apple.com, sign up, and enable Beta Updates in Settings to get the prompt for iOS 26 Developer Beta 2. Always remember to back up your device before updating!

The update brings several minor changes, such as the left-alignment of app icons in the dock when there are fewer than four apps, which could be a bug. There’s also a new Live Radio widget for Apple Music. To add it to your home screen, long-press an empty area until the apps start shaking, tap the Edit button in the top left, and select ‘Add Widget’. Scroll down to Music and choose the Live Radio widget, then tap ‘Add Widget’ to finish.

Safari has also received some updates, including a streamlined ‘More’ menu at the bottom right, making it easier to share content, bookmark pages, and add tabs. Apple has also revamped the iconic Reflections ringtone, available in Settings > Sound & Haptics > Ringtone, under ‘Reflection’ with an alternate version called ‘Alt 1’. This may be a placeholder name, as it could be renamed by the final release in September.

Lastly, iOS 26 Developer Beta 2 might have given us a glimpse of the iPhone 17 Air’s display specs. A new clownfish wallpaper in this update has a resolution of 420×912@3x, which could hint at a 1260 × 2736 resolution, similar to predictions for the upcoming iPhone 17 Air by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The clownfish wallpaper, first introduced by Apple in the original iPhone’s commercials, was made available in iOS 16, but its appearance here might just signal the iPhone 17 Air’s debut features.
